Ujjain, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : A significant incident was narrowly avoided in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on October 6, when a bus traveling to Indore caught fire after its rear tire burst. The event occurred in the Ramwas area, causing panic among the passengers.
As smoke began to billow from the bus, the passengers were forced to evacuate. Initial reports indicated that around a dozen people were on board, but thankfully, no injuries were reported. The bus was completely engulfed in flames shortly after the tire blowout.
According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle when the tire exploded, leading to the fire. Station Officer Narendra Yadav stated, “As soon as the rear tire burst, the bus caught fire. All passengers were safely evacuated, and no one was injured.”
The fire spread rapidly, consuming the vehicle within minutes. Firefighters arrived approximately 45 minutes after the alarm was raised and worked for about an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze. By the time the fire was brought under control, the bus had been entirely destroyed, leaving only its charred frame.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the fire. The bus was an older model running on diesel, marked with reflective orange stripes and labeled “Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service.” Video footage from the scene also displayed the name “Chief Minister Sugam Bus Service Transport” on the front of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is examining the bus’s records and its association with the state transport service. This incident occurred shortly after the launch of the “Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service,” aimed at enhancing bus connectivity across cities in the state. The service was inaugurated on September 25 by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Bhopal.
