Bengaluru, April 6: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) celebrated their second consecutive victory in IPL 2026. On Sunday, they defeated Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Following the match, RCB captain Rajat Patidar praised explosive batsman Tim David for his outstanding performance.
Patidar stated, “It always feels good to win after a strong performance. The ball was coming onto the bat a bit slowly at the start, but Phil Salt and Virat Kohli managed the innings brilliantly. They provided a solid start for the team.”
He further added, “Tim David’s batting in the middle and death overs was exceptional. He is a specialist finisher and one of the best in the world. Watching David hit sixes from the non-striker’s end was incredibly exciting. I saw the ball soar out of the ground on his 106-meter six. David has been consistently performing well since last season.”
Discussing his own batting, Patidar mentioned that his mindset was clear—maintain pressure on the bowlers as long as he is at the crease. He acknowledged that having Tim David by his side was beneficial.
The RCB captain also praised his bowlers, saying, “Duffy bowled brilliantly, taking 2 wickets with outstanding outswingers, putting the team in a strong position. Krunal also took a crucial wicket. Bhubaneswar Kumar and Abhinandan’s yorker bowling in the death overs was impressive. Romario Shepherd and Suyash Sharma also made significant contributions. We are now looking forward to the next match.”
In the match, after losing the toss, RCB batted first. Tim David scored 70 runs off 25 balls, hitting 8 sixes and 3 fours. Rajat Patidar contributed an unbeaten 48 runs off 19 balls with 6 sixes and 1 four. Devdutt Padikkal scored 50 runs off 29 balls, while Phil Salt and Virat Kohli added 46 and 28 runs, respectively. RCB finished their innings at 250 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs.
Under pressure from a large target, CSK had a poor start, losing wickets of Gaikwad, Samson, and Mhatré for just 30 runs. The team struggled to recover from these setbacks, with Sarfaraz Khan scoring the highest for CSK with 50 runs off 25 balls.
For RCB, Bhubaneswar Kumar took 3 wickets, while Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh, and Krunal Pandya each claimed 2 wickets. Suyash Sharma picked up 1 wicket.
Tim David was named Player of the Match.
