RCB Poised for Victory Against GT in IPL 2026 Final, Says Irfan Pathan

New Delhi, May 30: The IPL 2026 final is set to take place on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, featuring the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against the Gujarat Titans (GT). RCB secured their spot in the final by defeating GT in the first qualifier, while GT overcame the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second qualifier. Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that despite playing on home ground, GT will face a tough challenge against RCB.

Pathan stated on GeoStar, “Even though Gujarat has the advantage of home conditions in Ahmedabad, RCB holds a slight edge. Having qualified directly for the final, RCB has had more time to rest.”

He added, “RCB appears to be a well-balanced team. When compared to the players of Gujarat Titans, RCB has more in-form players and experienced match-winners. Their batting lineup is deep, their bowling is diverse, and they have fielders capable of saving crucial runs. Additionally, they benefited from a long break after winning the first qualifier, allowing them to prepare while GT had to play and win the second qualifier.”

Pathan acknowledged that GT is well-acquainted with the conditions at Narendra Modi Stadium and is a strong contender for the title. However, he emphasized that defeating RCB, led by captain Rajat Patidar, will not be easy. RCB has already beaten GT in the playoffs and is fully prepared to do so again.

In IPL 2026, RCB and GT have faced each other three times, with RCB leading 2-1. RCB won the first league match by five wickets, while GT claimed victory in the second match by four wickets. In the first qualifier, RCB triumphed over GT by 92 runs. The final promises to be an exciting showdown between these two teams once again.
