Ravidas Mehrotra, a legislator from the Samajwadi Party, has launched a scathing attack on both the central and state governments. He raised concerns about the sale of adulterated food products, the controversy over creamy layers in reservations, discrimination against Dalits, and internal conflicts within the NDA. Mehrotra asserted that a favorable atmosphere has developed for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, predicting a change in power by 2027.
Responding to questions regarding the ban on Everest hing and other spices, Mehrotra accused the BJP government of allowing the sale of fake and adulterated goods. He claimed that public health is being compromised to benefit large capitalists. A ban was imposed after adulteration was found in Everest hing, garam masala, and meat masala. He linked this issue to the rising cases of cancer, holding the government accountable.
Commenting on Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary’s visit to Lucknow and events related to Brahmin-Jat social equations, Mehrotra stated that there is a wave in favor of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, with the public ready for change. He referenced the alliance between the National Lok Dal (RLD) and the Samajwadi Party in 2022, emphasizing that this alliance should be honored for at least five years. He criticized Chaudhary’s alignment with the BJP as contrary to principles.
Mehrotra recalled the farmer protests, mentioning the significant number of farmer deaths, and noted that now Chaudhary’s grandson is aligned with the BJP, which contradicts the farmer-centric politics of Chaudhary Charan Singh.
On the issue of creamy layers in Dalit reservations, Mehrotra pointed out alleged disagreements among NDA leaders. He stated that the Samajwadi Party aims to ensure rights, justice, and respect for the oppressed, marginalized, Dalit, and backward classes. He accused the BJP government of injustice against the PDA community, predicting that NDA allies will fracture as elections approach.
Following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, Mehrotra criticized the BJP for allegedly purifying the venue with Ganga water, claiming it was due to Kharge’s Dalit identity. He stated that the opposition is demanding strict action and arrests against those responsible. Supporting Rahul Gandhi‘s call for action under the SC/ST Act, Mehrotra emphasized that such incidents are serious violations of Dalit rights and dignity.
Regarding the Samajwadi Party’s PDA formula, Mehrotra noted that new social groups are continuously joining. He claimed that the growing acceptance of the PDA is troubling the BJP. He vowed that the struggle will continue until justice, rights, and respect are granted to the PDA community. He confidently predicted that the Samajwadi Party will form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, stating that no force can stop this change.
