Mumbai, March 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the nomination of Union Minister Ramdas Athawale for the Rajya Sabha. In an interview on Wednesday, Athawale expressed his happiness regarding this decision and shared his eagerness to continue working for his ministry across the country.
Athawale stated, “I briefed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on how essential it is for me to stay in Delhi and secure a Rajya Sabha seat. The result of all this is that due to CM Fadnavis’s increased efforts, I have been granted a Rajya Sabha position. I will continue to work throughout the country. In the Rajya Sabha, I will maintain my role with numerous questions. I will keep working on the responsibilities of my ministry.”
He added, “After our previous discussions, I was confident that my name would be sent for the Rajya Sabha. CM Fadnavis assured me that he would advocate for my nomination. There were some discussions suggesting that I might not secure the seat. It was also mentioned that candidates from the BJP are typically given only two opportunities in the Rajya Sabha. This led to speculation that since I had already completed two terms, I might be cut from consideration this time. However, that did not happen.”
Athawale remarked, “I have stated that if PM Modi becomes Prime Minister for a third time and then a fourth, I will still go to the Rajya Sabha. I have often mentioned this publicly. PM Modi’s agenda of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ aims to work for all sections of society. I have once again been given the opportunity to work across the country, which I will do diligently.”
It is noteworthy that the BJP has released its list of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Maharashtra, which includes National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Maya Chintaman Iwanate, and Ramrao Kudkute.
