Mumbai Police Busts Interstate Theft Gang, Arrests Four After Ten-Day Operation

Mumbai, March 14: Mumbai Police has successfully dismantled an interstate gang involved in domestic thefts through a significant operation conducted under the M.R.A. Marg police station.

According to a post from the official ‘X’ account of Mumbai Police, officers from the M.R.A. Marg police station undertook a special operation, secretly stationed in the Bihar-West Bengal border area for ten days. This intensive investigation led to the arrest of four suspects.

During the operation, police seized stolen property worth approximately ₹2.5 million, including gold, silver, cash, electronics, and other valuables. Additionally, they uncovered a total of seven burglary cases.

These incidents were primarily linked to break-ins at homes across various areas of Mumbai, where the suspects would escape after committing theft during the night or when houses were unoccupied. The gang was mainly active in border regions of Bihar and West Bengal, returning after committing crimes in metropolitan Mumbai.

Police sources indicate that the gang members were professional thieves who conducted reconnaissance on homes, employing techniques to pick locks or enter through windows. They quickly sold the stolen goods for profit. The gang’s activities had been ongoing for several months, leading to an increase in domestic theft cases in several Mumbai neighborhoods. The M.R.A. Marg police executed this operation based on intelligence reports, which included covert surveillance, raids, and the deployment of teams in the border area.

Interrogations of the arrested suspects are ongoing to identify their accomplices and uncover additional theft cases. Police stated that this success is a significant step towards curbing property crimes in Mumbai. In recent months, Mumbai Police has dismantled several interstate gangs.
