Jaipur, June 16: The highly anticipated Pachpadra Refinery, located in Barmer district of Rajasthan, is expected to commence petrol and diesel production by the end of this month.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the refinery on July 4.
The refinery’s launch has faced multiple delays this year. Originally scheduled for January 28, the inauguration was postponed to April 21. However, the program was canceled due to a devastating fire caused by an explosion in an exchanger unit within the crude distillation unit on April 20.
While an official announcement is still pending, preparations for a grand welcome for Prime Minister Modi are in full swing.
During a review of the Rajasthan Refinery project by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), state Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan instructed officials to expedite remaining tasks and initiate petroleum product production as soon as possible.
In a review meeting held at the government secretariat, Srinivasan noted that preparations for petrol and diesel production are in the final stages, with a goal to start production this month.
The meeting also assessed the status of infrastructure development and ongoing works associated with the project. Emphasizing the refinery’s significance for Rajasthan’s industrial growth, the Chief Secretary directed all relevant departments to complete pending tasks within the set deadlines while maintaining close coordination.
Senior officials present at the review meeting included Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) Abhay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Mines and Petroleum) Aparna Arora, and Special Secretary Namrata Vrishni.
