Jaipur, August 17: The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Naveen, has assigned significant responsibilities to four prominent leaders from Rajasthan in the newly announced national team.
Mannalal Rawat, the Lok Sabha MP from Udaipur, has been appointed as the National President of the BJP Scheduled Tribe (ST) Front. The new team also includes former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, former state president and Rajya Sabha MP Satish Poonia, and senior leader Rajesh Mangal, who have all been given important roles within the organization.
Rawat, who won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 261,608 votes, defeated Congress candidate and former district collector of Udaipur, Tarachand Meena. Upon entering Parliament, he garnered attention as the first tribal MP from Rajasthan to take his oath in Sanskrit.
Before entering electoral politics, Rawat served as the Additional Commissioner in the Transport Department of the Rajasthan government. He resigned from his government position after being declared the BJP candidate from Udaipur.
Hailing from a farming family in Chiklad village of the Dahriawad area in southern Rajasthan, Rawat overcame challenging circumstances to complete his education. He holds degrees in B.Sc., M.A., and Ph.D. His extensive experience in government service, education, and tribal affairs led the BJP to entrust him with the responsibility of the ST Front at the national level.
Rajasthan has received a significant share in the BJP’s new national organizational structure. Vasundhara Raje has been appointed as the National Vice President, Satish Poonia as National General Secretary, Rajesh Mangal as National Co-Treasurer, and Rawat as the National President of the ST Front.
These appointments have generated considerable interest among BJP workers across Rajasthan, including in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota. It is expected that these new organizational responsibilities will impact the political landscape of the state ahead of upcoming elections and the BJP’s broader organizational expansion.
