Jaipur, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Voter participation surged in the second phase of Rajasthan’s urban local body elections, with an impressive 70.01% turnout recorded. According to the State Election Commission, by 6 PM, a total of 61,35,153 out of 87,63,595 registered voters had cast their ballots across 147 local bodies.
The highest turnout was observed in Dhori Manana, where 91.59% of eligible voters participated. In stark contrast, Kota Municipal Corporation reported the lowest turnout at just 57.02%, continuing a trend of lower participation in urban areas.
District-wise statistics reveal that Alwar led with a turnout of 85.22%, closely followed by Barmer at 85.17%. Other notable districts included Kherthal-Tijara at 88.32%, Phalodi at 86.80%, and Kotputli-Bahrod at 86.04%. These figures significantly exceed the state average.
Other districts reported varying turnout rates: Ajmer at 69.77%, Balotra at 75.18%, Banswara at 71.36%, and Baran at 83.07%. The turnout in Bhilwara was 83.88%, while Bikaner saw 75.09%. In Jaipur district, the turnout was 62.88%.
Overall, Alwar district topped the charts with 85.22%, while Kota lagged behind at 57.02%. The state average stood at 70.01%, with the Election Commission noting that final figures may see slight adjustments.
