
Nice, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community in Nice, France. As he arrived, the crowd erupted in chants of “Modi Modi” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The event featured stunning performances of classical Indian dances, including Kathak, Odissi, and Bharatanatyam, which heightened the excitement among attendees. After the meeting, many expressed their joy at seeing the Prime Minister.
Praveen Kumar Choubey, an Indian citizen present at the event, shared, “I completed my PhD in Varanasi, so I have seen him several times there. The initiatives he has launched under the ‘Innovative India’ program are commendable. It is a very positive effort.”
Ashok, another member of the Indian community, stated, “I am a huge fan of PM Narendra Modi. I came here to meet him today. Recently, I joined ITER, which is funded by India and works on nuclear fusion, where I am employed as an engineer.”
Priti from the Indian community expressed her excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to meet our Prime Minister. He has inspired many of us, including the youth of India. It is exhilarating to know that he is launching the ‘India Innovates‘ program in collaboration with France. Many companies and startups related to AI and agriculture are being showcased here in Nice. We are very happy about his visit.”
Before the inauguration of ‘India Innovates 2026,’ Professor Vikram Vishal, an innovator at Enernova-C, remarked, “India Innovates is a significant initiative by our Ministry of Education, showcasing unique technologies developed in India to the world. I believe this is the first initiative where over 100 technologies from India are being presented in France. The inauguration will take place tomorrow in Nice, and I believe both the Prime Minister of India and the President of France will be present.”
PM Modi tweeted, “I look forward to meeting President Macron tomorrow and participating in the ‘India Innovates’ program.”
On June 14, a bilateral meeting will occur between PM Modi and President Macron in Nice, during which both leaders will review all critical aspects of India-France relations.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this special event, held during the ‘India-France Innovation Year,’ aims to further strengthen the innovation partnership between the two countries.
This visit reflects the growing high-level contacts between India and France, aiming to enhance cooperation across all sectors, including innovation, science and technology, economy, culture, and people-to-people ties.
At the invitation of President Macron, PM Modi will also attend the G-7 summit in Evian, France, on June 16 and 17.
