
Bratislava, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Slovakia marks a memorable and historic moment for the Indian community. This is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited the capital, Bratislava, igniting a wave of excitement among Indian nationals residing there.
Avinash Vijay Kumar, a member of the Indian community who has lived in Bratislava for 18 years, expressed his joy, stating, “I have been living here for almost 18 years. This is a historic moment for us, and we are thrilled that Prime Minister Modi is here. He is spending time with us, and we are very happy. Many opportunities have already arisen for Indians here.”
Akash, who hails from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and has been working as a Technical Assistant at AT&T in Slovakia for the past four years, shared his excitement, saying, “I am very excited because this is the first time I am meeting my country’s Prime Minister. I couldn’t meet him in India, and this is a historic opportunity for us.”
Manoj Waghle from the Indian community described the Prime Minister’s visit as a moment of pride. He remarked, “When we learned that the Prime Minister of India was coming here, we were overjoyed. It is a matter of great pride for us, especially for Indian employees and skilled professionals working here. Companies in this region, particularly in Slovakia, value Indian employees highly.”
Manoj also noted that Slovak companies appreciate Indian talent and expressed hope for increased economic cooperation between the two countries.
Community member Darshan recalled a previous presidential visit, saying, “It feels great because the last time a president came, there were about 6,000 people from the Indian community present. Now, just a year later, with the Prime Minister’s visit, you can imagine what the situation will be. We expect a large number of Indians to come. The Indian community here is very supportive.”
Another Indian citizen stated, “It is a great joy for us that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming here. This is a moment of pride for us.” He praised the Prime Minister for enhancing India’s image globally.
A community member commended PM Modi’s foreign policy, saying, “I am very proud that he has strengthened friendly relations with everyone. He has undertaken more foreign visits than perhaps any other Prime Minister. The respect he receives worldwide makes us very proud, and we hope our Prime Minister will always be like Modi.”
A member from Lucknow added, “We are fortunate that our beloved Prime Minister is coming here… Our Prime Minister has built strong relationships around the world, and we take pride in that.”
Many members of the Indian community praised the Modi government’s policies, which focus on the welfare of Indians living abroad and enhancing India’s global reach. They expressed hope that this visit would boost trade, technology, education, and cultural exchanges between India and Slovakia. Indians residing in Slovakia are primarily active in IT, engineering, medicine, and business. They regularly celebrate Indian festivals, organize cultural events, and support one another. The Prime Minister’s visit has provided them with a new opportunity to unite.
