
Jaipur, May 13: The Rajasthan Police has initiated a significant operation across the state to enhance law enforcement and monitor criminal activities. This extensive two-day operation was conducted under the directives of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma. The campaign was executed simultaneously across various police ranges in Rajasthan.
On the first day, operations were carried out in the Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Jaipur ranges. The following day, the Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota ranges were targeted. During the operation, police set up checkpoints at 727 locations, conducting thorough inspections of vehicles and suspicious individuals.
According to officials, a total of 16,676 two-wheelers and 18,795 four-wheelers were checked. Strict actions were taken against traffic rule violators and individuals involved in suspicious activities. Notably, 262 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Additionally, 1,173 fines were issued to two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets, while 1,213 individuals were penalized for not wearing seat belts. Action was also taken against 75 drivers for using mobile phones while driving.
The police targeted vehicles with non-standard number plates and those with tinted windows. A total of 857 cases were registered for improper or unreadable number plates, and 739 cases involved tinted windows. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, a total of 2,856 cases were filed, bringing the overall count to 7,185 cases during the operation.
Region-wise, the Jodhpur range recorded the highest number of cases at 1,633, followed by Udaipur with 1,583, Jaipur with 1,094, Bikaner with 954, Bharatpur with 986, and Kota with 935 cases.
In addition to traffic enforcement, the police also targeted illegal weapons, narcotics, illegal alcohol, and illegal mining. Under the Excise Act, 53 FIRs were registered, while 10 FIRs each were filed under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Eight vehicles were seized under Section 106 of the Indian Civil Defence Code.
During the operation, 89 individuals were arrested across various cases and FIRs, while 161 were detained under Section 170 of the Indian Civil Defence Code. In the Kota range, police registered six cases related to illegal sharp weapons and seized approximately 200 liters of illicit liquor.
Significant actions were also taken against illegal mining and transportation. The police confiscated around 75 tons of black sand along with four dumpers, four tractors, three pickup vehicles, and three trailers.
Director General Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that such operations will continue throughout Rajasthan to control crime, enforce traffic regulations, and enhance public safety. He instructed police officials to maintain vigilance over suspicious activities and ensure prompt action against offenders.
