Patiala, April 18: Jai Inder Kaur, the President of the Punjab BJP Women’s Wing, launched a verbal attack on Congress on Saturday. She accused the party of perceiving women merely as a vote bank and failing to demonstrate genuine commitment to their empowerment.
Criticizing Congress for not fully supporting the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, she labeled it a betrayal of women in the country. The bill aims to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, allowing them equal participation in decision-making and governance. Kaur stated that opposition parties have only showcased delay tactics and opportunism.
She described the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a revolutionary step that will uplift women across the nation, empowering daughters and securing their rightful place in high-level decision-making bodies. Kaur emphasized that while Congress has always viewed women through the lens of electoral mathematics, the BJP sees women’s empowerment as a mission grounded in practical action.
Highlighting initiatives by the BJP-led central government, she noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, several historic schemes have been launched to enhance the social and economic status of women. These include the Drone Didi initiative, Lakshmi Didi scheme, PM Mudra Yojana, Stand-Up India scheme, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and PM Ujjwala Yojana. Kaur asserted that these programs have significantly transformed the lives of millions of women in the country.
She further stated that these initiatives are not mere paper policies; they have created real opportunities for women to become economically independent, self-reliant, and actively contribute to nation-building. Kaur claimed that women in the country are well aware of the intentions of various political parties and will respond decisively to those who repeatedly obstruct their progress. She expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, a truly empowered ‘Nari Shakti’ and a developed India will soon become a reality.
