CM Yogi Criticizes Opposition for Blocking Womens Empowerment Bill

Kooch Behar, April 18: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed election rallies in West Bengal on Saturday. Speaking at public meetings in Mathabhanga and Dinhata assembly constituencies, he criticized opposition parties for their stance on the Women’s Empowerment Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha.

The Chief Minister claimed that supporters of Bangladeshi infiltrators prevented the bill from being passed. He labeled this as an insult to half of the country’s population, asserting that mothers and sisters would not tolerate it.

Adityanath blamed the Trinamool Congress for the current unrest in West Bengal, declaring that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should step down as the BJP is gaining ground. He reassured the people of Bengal that they need not live in fear anymore.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced a bill in Parliament to provide 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. Although this bill was supposed to be implemented by 2029, it was stalled by Congress, Trinamool Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and leftist parties.

The Chief Minister accused these parties of denying rights to half the population while supporting Bangladeshi infiltrators. He stated that the ruling government in Bengal is aiding the inclusion of such individuals in voter lists, depriving the poor of their rights. He further asserted that rejecting the Women’s Empowerment Amendment Bill is an affront to women, which they will not accept.

Adityanath remarked that the Trinamool Congress once spoke of mothers, land, and the people, but its behavior in Parliament has revealed its true nature. He alleged that infiltrators are robbing local citizens of their rights, causing fear among the populace due to the prevailing chaos.

He pointed out that farmers are not receiving fair prices for their produce, forcing them to migrate. He compared the price of potatoes, stating that in Uttar Pradesh, it ranges from 15 to 20 rupees, while in Bengal, it is only 1 to 1.5 rupees.

The Chief Minister noted that over 7,000 large factories have shut down during the 15 years of TMC rule. Uttar Pradesh has provided jobs to 3 crore youths, whereas nearly 30 lakh youth in Bengal remain unemployed. He also mentioned a decline in rice and fish production, alleging that central funds are not reaching the intended beneficiaries.

Adityanath accused Mamata Banerjee of opposing Hindus and the slogan “Jai Shri Ram.” He stated that she also opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act, which grants citizenship rights to persecuted communities like Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh.

He revealed that recently, 1,056 families in Uttar Pradesh were granted land rights and citizenship. He criticized Congress, leftists, and TMC for opposing the Act and asserted that his government stands firmly for the protection of Hindus globally.

The Chief Minister accused TMC of practicing appeasement politics, claiming it only considers Muslims. He alleged that people in Bengal cannot chant “Jai Shri Ram” due to fear of government actions and attacks from party workers.

He also claimed that unrest tends to arise before festivals like Durga Puja, and permissions are often denied. He noted that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh faced similar issues with frequent riots and curfews, but the situation has improved since then.

Under the double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh, there are no curfews or riots, and law and order have improved. Actions are being taken against criminals, and properties of mafias are being utilized for public welfare.

He added that prayers are not performed on the streets, and the call to prayer is confined to mosques. There is no room for illegal activities, which he described as an opportunity for change in Bengal.

The Chief Minister stated that before 2017, there were restrictions on religious events, but now both the Kanwar Yatra and Durga Puja are conducted peacefully. A large number of devotees participate in these events in Uttar Pradesh, and previous concerns regarding law and order have proven unfounded.

He paid tribute to prominent Bengali figures such as Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Khudiram Bose, and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. He emphasized that Bengal has made significant contributions to India’s culture, heritage, and history of sacrifice.

The Chief Minister urged voters to support the BJP candidates Nishit Pramanik from Mathabhanga, Savitri Barman from Shitalkuchi, and Naresh Chandra Roy from Dinhata to establish a double-engine government in Bengal.
