Jaipur, March 31: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani emphasized that legislative assemblies should not become arenas of chaos and disorder. He stated that the assembly should serve as a temple for serious, respectful, and constructive discussions, guiding public welfare and empowering democracy.
Devnani was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day conference for young legislators held at the Madhya Pradesh Assembly in Bhopal. The event was attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, and the opposition leader.
He remarked that the assembly is not merely a building but a symbol of democracy’s soul, a platform where elected representatives voice the hopes and concerns of the public. Creating disturbances in such a sacred space undermines democratic values and erodes public trust.
He stressed that discussions in the house should be based on logic, facts, and decorum. Serious deliberations on public interest issues are essential, with policies needing thorough examination and positive solutions to problems. Advocating for an increase in the number of assembly meetings, he noted that Rajasthan Assembly has held 24 meetings so far, with efforts underway to raise this number to 35.
Citing the vision of ‘Developed India 2047,’ he stated that the goal is not just economic growth but inclusive development for all. He called on young legislators to lead in areas such as innovation, startups, skill development, climate change, and digital inclusion.
