Raj Thackeray Criticizes Ashok Kharats Case, Questions Maharashtras Moral Decline

Mumbai, March 23: Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, expressed deep anger on Monday regarding shocking revelations linked to Ashok Kharat, who claims to be a “royal astrologer.” He raised concerns about the moral decline of the state, which has historically been associated with saints and social reformers.

Thackeray highlighted the stark contrast between the great saints of Maharashtra, such as Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, and Gadge Baba, and the current situation, where individuals like Kharat allegedly operate under political protection.

In a post on X, Thackeray stated, “We have introduced the youth to Maharashtra’s rich traditions, but it is unfortunate and frightening to see modern leaders bowing to people like Kharat, abandoning reason and the wisdom of the Gita.”

His post pointed to a “tragic contradiction.” It noted that many current legislators, who may be implicated in this scandal, were the same individuals who passed the anti-superstition and black magic law in December 2013. This raises questions about how the lust for power has weakened their commitment to reason and science.

Thackeray also discussed a troubling pattern within the state’s political system, characterized by a race for power, fear of losing positions, and bureaucratic collusion. He remarked, “The desire to become ministers after vying for tickets, and then the fear of losing their posts, forces leaders to seek help from those who claim to be miraculous. There are also allegations that some officials try to stay close to power by becoming advisors to ministers.”

Acknowledging Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s claim that the government revealed this case, Thackeray raised several questions about the timing of the revelations.

He stated that if the government wishes to take credit for this investigation, it must also accept responsibility for the intelligence failure that allowed this case to surface under its watch.

Thackeray further noted that discussions are growing around the idea that this case is being politically exploited to weaken ambitious rivals. There are also concerns that once political objectives are achieved, the investigation may be quietly shelved.

He warned the media, saying, “Do not become pawns in this kind of ‘political maneuvering.’ Do not let this case rest until Ashok Kharat and his associates receive strict punishment.”

Thackeray cautioned citizens that if they continue to elect representatives who compromise their moral values for political gain, Maharashtra’s future could be at risk, despite its rich traditions like Kirtan and Gyaneshwari.

In conclusion, he emphasized his commitment to continuously raise awareness among the youth about Maharashtra’s true and progressive identity. He urged the state to reject the shamelessness of those who compromise their ethics for political advantage.
