Chandigarh, March 23: Vikram Singh Majithia, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), demanded on Monday that the postmortem of Warehouse Corporation official Gagandeep Singh Randhawa be conducted at PGIMER or by a panel of doctors from AIIMS to ensure fairness. He also called for the arrest of former Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar’s father and personal assistant.
Addressing the media, Majithia thanked all opposition leaders, farmer organizations, and the Warehouse Corporation union for their significant role in securing Bhullar’s arrest. He stated that this united effort ultimately led to the minister’s apprehension.
Majithia praised the Randhawa family’s determination, who faced immense pressure from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government while demanding justice for Randhawa.
He emphasized that this case goes beyond the forced suicide of Randhawa, as it also involves extensive corruption by Laljit Bhullar and officials from the AAP.
Majithia pointed out that the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Dalvinderjeet Singh, Warehouse Corporation Managing Director Gautam Jain, and Chief Secretary KAP Sinha ignored repeated appeals from officials, warranting an investigation into their roles.
In response to Bhullar’s arrest, Majithia criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for making a disgraceful comment regarding “cash or demands.” He asserted that the combined pressure from the opposition, unions, the Randhawa family, and the statement from the Union Home Minister about a potential CBI investigation forced the AAP government to take action.
He noted that the government had been protecting Bhullar since March 21, initially failing to register an FIR for 24 hours. Even after that, the government did not arrest the minister or send his resignation to the Governor. It was only when the government was cornered on all fronts that it decided to arrest the minister today.
Majithia concluded by stating that if the Chief Minister truly considers the entire state and the victim’s family as part of his larger family, he should have no hesitation in agreeing to a CBI investigation in this matter.
