Ballia, May 21: Raj Singh, who was wrongfully arrested in the murder case of Chandranath Rath, the aide to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, made shocking claims after his release from jail.
In an interview, Singh stated that he was continuously threatened and pressured to confess to the murder. He expressed concern that without a timely CBI investigation, he could have faced an encounter.
“I was falsely accused in this case. I had no involvement. The SOG police in Ayodhya arrested me incorrectly and subjected me to mental harassment. They were forcing me to admit to a crime I did not commit,” he said.
Singh thanked the CBI, noting that his family provided CCTV footage and evidence that proved his innocence. He mentioned that a kurta purchased from a clothing store also served as crucial evidence in his favor. “I was interrogated in West Bengal, and I provided all the evidence,” he added.
He criticized the negligence of the administration and SOG, stating that he was arrested without any investigation, branding him a criminal unjustly. “I was framed, but I escaped at the right time. My name was in the spotlight, which led to my arrest. My reputation has been tarnished, and I had no involvement in any crime, yet I was detained,” he asserted.
It is noteworthy that three individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been arrested in connection with the murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s aide. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
