New Delhi, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Weather patterns in New Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) have shifted dramatically. The India Meteorological Department has predicted rain for Tuesday and Wednesday, impacting the area significantly.
On October 6, thunderstorms are expected in Delhi, with maximum temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius and minimums around 22 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are likely to fluctuate between 45% and 55%. The forecast for October 7 indicates partly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging from 34 to 22 degrees Celsius.
This trend of partial cloud cover is expected to continue on October 8, maintaining similar temperature ranges. A slight decrease in temperature is anticipated on October 9, with highs around 32 degrees Celsius. Further partial cloudiness is expected on October 10 and 11, with temperatures hovering between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.
The recent weather changes and increased winds have led to a minor reduction in pollution levels across Delhi-NCR. However, the air quality remains a pressing issue. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in various parts of Delhi is categorized as ‘poor’ to ‘very poor.’ Specific areas report alarming figures: Mundka at 280, Narela at 255, Okhla Phase-2 at 223, and North Campus at 205, all falling within the ‘poor’ category.
In Noida, Sector 116 has an AQI of 267, indicating ‘poor’ air quality, while other sectors show slightly better figures. Ghaziabad faces the most severe conditions, with Sanjay Nagar recording an AQI of 322, marking it as extremely hazardous.
Areas like Wave City and Vasundhara report AQIs of 305 and 243, respectively. In contrast, Govindpuram and Indirapuram show better readings at 148 and 151. The weather department suggests that upcoming rainfall may further lower pollution levels. However, experts warn that if wind speeds decrease post-rain, pollutants could accumulate again, worsening air quality.
