Navi Mumbai Airport Expands Connectivity Ahead of Winter Schedule 2026-27

Navi Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, is set to improve its transport network in anticipation of the upcoming winter schedule for 2026-27. This initiative aims to facilitate easier access for travelers from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and the broader Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

In a recent announcement, NMIA confirmed that it will expand bus, taxi, auto-rickshaw, car rental, and shuttle services from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027, aligning with the winter schedule.

Beginning October 7, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will launch electric bus services under the e-Shivai initiative. In the initial phase, these buses will connect NMIA with key locations such as Dadar, Borivali, and Pune. The fares are set at ₹450 to Pune, ₹210 to Borivali, and ₹170 to Dadar East. Notably, children under 12 and women traveling with a National Common Mobility Card will receive a 50% discount on fares.

The Dadar to NMIA route will operate via Sion and the Atal Setu, while the Borivali route will pass through CSMIA Terminal-1, Bandra, and Atal Setu. Two daily bus services will be available on the Pune route, with plans to extend connectivity to Thane and Nashik by mid-November.

Additionally, private operator Chalo Bus currently runs 21 daily services connecting the airport to Marol (Andheri East), Bandra, Dadar, and the World Trade Center in Colaba. To meet rising demand, extra services will be added during peak hours.

Within Navi Mumbai, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) operates seven special routes (A1 to A7) to the airport, linking it with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar, and the airport project office. Buses between Belapur and Nerul are available every 15-20 minutes during peak times, with plans to enhance connectivity to Vashi and Panvel.

To improve last-mile connectivity, the airport has also expanded taxi and auto services. Options like Uber Go, Uber Premier, and Uber Auto will provide on-demand transport for passengers. Prepaid taxi, auto, and car rental services will also be available, with India Taxi launching operations on October 10 with an initial fleet of 40 vehicles.

A free shuttle service between NMIA and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will also begin. Operated by Cityflo, Arya, and Chalo, this service will run hourly, offering direct transfers between the two airports.

Overall, the airport’s ground transport capacity will increase to accommodate 4,689 vehicles and services, including 3,787 app-based taxis, 184 car rental vehicles, 171 auto-rickshaws, and 547 buses.

To enhance passenger experience, NMIA is implementing new signage, an upgraded wayfinding system, and on-ground assistance services. Dedicated areas for buses, shuttles, arrivals, departures, and private vehicles are also being developed.
