Jerusalem, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered the military to locate and eliminate the remaining Hamas attackers involved in the assault on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. According to Gallant, approximately 2,000 individuals are still at large following the attack.
On that day, about 6,000 militants crossed the border into Israel, with 4,000 already reported killed. Gallant stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and he have instructed the military to pursue these individuals relentlessly.
“We have ordered the army to track down and eliminate all those involved in the attack, regardless of their rank,” Gallant emphasized.
During a memorial ceremony held on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, Netanyahu reiterated the commitment to pursue those responsible for the attack and the hostage-taking incidents. He also reaffirmed the goal of dismantling Hamas’s rule in Gaza.
Earlier in September, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu dismissed allegations of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, labeling them as “the biggest lie of the century.” He asserted that Israel is a strong nation engaged in battles on seven fronts, including Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi militants, Iran, and armed groups in Iraq and Syria, as well as Palestinian fighters in the West Bank. “They have united to erase us from the world, but they have failed,” Netanyahu stated.
Referring to the October 2023 Hamas attack, he declared, “We did not break. Instead, we rose and fought like lions.” Netanyahu defended Israel’s airstrikes on Iran, claiming that without such actions, they would have faced annihilation.
The October 7 attack resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people in Israel. Following this, Israel launched a significant military campaign in Gaza, which, according to health officials, has claimed over 74,200 lives to date. Throughout the ongoing military operations in Gaza, Israel has successfully targeted several high-ranking Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar and his brother Muhammad Sinwar.
