New Delhi, August 16: BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the recent police action against students in Jharkhand, which involved baton charges and tear gas. Vallabh accused Gandhi of engaging in “selective criticism” and urged him to withdraw support from the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand. He also demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi for the alleged disrespect shown to “Vande Mataram” during Independence Day celebrations.
In an interview, Vallabh stated, “Rahul Gandhi is a victim of selective criticism. What he deems wrong in Delhi is acceptable in Ranchi. In Delhi, he questions who fired the tear gas, yet in Ranchi, where he is part of the government, tear gas is being used against students.”
He questioned, “Why doesn’t Rahul Gandhi withdraw support from the Jharkhand government? Hemant Soren should immediately recommend President’s rule, as he lacks a majority.”
Vallabh further remarked, “The political theatrics that Rahul Gandhi performs in Delhi are absent in Ranchi. Why doesn’t he demand Soren’s resignation? His politics is solely about gaining power on the backs of students, but this generation respects merit and despises nepotism. Rahul Gandhi will not succeed here.”
On the Vande Mataram controversy, Vallabh directly targeted Congress, stating, “The party has repeatedly disrespected the national song by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. They seem intent on appeasing certain groups. If the main opposition party cannot respect the national song, what heritage can they honor?”
He added, “Why has Congress disregarded a song that ignites patriotism in every citizen’s heart for 65 years? Why did they halt its performance during the 80th Independence Day celebrations, especially when the leaders of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were present?”
Vallabh accused Congress of still being trapped in appeasement politics, stating, “All evidence shows that Congress remains stuck in appeasement, while the country has embraced good governance, performance, and a double-engine approach. This is the path towards a developed India by 2047.”
