New Delhi, August 16: The political landscape in India has heated up over the Vande Mataram issue. BJP MP Dharmshila Gupta has responded to Congress MLA Arif Masood’s statements and complaints against Sonia Gandhi, asserting that Vande Mataram represents the soul and cultural consciousness of India. She accused Praniti Shinde, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi of disrespecting the anthem, claiming that Congress is only concerned with vote banks rather than the nation.
Gupta stated, “On August 15, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi paid tribute to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. However, Congress has a long-standing habit of caste, religion, and appeasement politics. They care only about vote banks and have no concern for the country. I want to tell Arif Masood that Congress has no support in Bhopal; the people have rejected them. The remaining leaders are frustrated by the arrogance of figures like Masood and Rahul Gandhi. The public has turned away from them.”
She further emphasized, “Vande Mataram is the soul of India and a tribute to our freedom fighters. Such actions by Congress leaders, including Praniti Shinde, who interrupted the singing of Vande Mataram, are disrespectful. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have also disrespected it. Congress is on the decline and has no public support.”
Referring to PM Modi’s comments about “intellectual Naxals,” Gupta remarked that the Prime Minister labeled those opposing Article 370, Vande Mataram, and national interests as such. She questioned why Congress was reacting so strongly, suggesting that their discomfort stems from their own internal issues.
Praniti Shinde did not sing Vande Mataram, and Gupta condemned this action, stating that it was not just an insult to the song but also to India and its 1.4 billion citizens. “I strongly condemn this behavior,” she added.
On the other hand, regarding a video of Sonia Gandhi that surfaced on Independence Day, Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari commented, “Some issues are raised solely to create controversy and serve political interests at specific times. No one paid attention to this. BJP members in Bengal did not even hoist the national flag. The public is watching everything. I don’t think Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, or Mallikarjun Kharge have the standing to point fingers at anyone.”
