PV Sindhu Praises Devika Sihag’s Triumph at Thailand Masters

New Delhi: Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has applauded young badminton talent Devika Sihag for her title win at the Thailand Masters Super 300 tournament. Sindhu described Devika’s achievement as a result of discipline, hard work, and strong self-belief.

Training alongside Devika at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru, Sindhu shared that she has closely witnessed the 20-year-old shuttler’s journey.

In a social media post, Sindhu wrote, “It feels great when my training partners perform well. Devika trains with me and coach Irvanshah in Bengaluru, and watching her dedication up close has been truly special.”

Devika Sihag has become the third Indian woman shuttler, after PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, to win a Super 300 women’s singles title.

The 20-year-old from Haryana was declared the winner of the final after her Malaysian opponent, Goh Jin Wei, withdrew due to a hamstring injury.

Highlighting the effort beyond the court, Sindhu said, “She has worked very closely with my team on strength and conditioning. I have seen her game mature and improve steadily.”

Sindhu added that the title reflects Devika’s consistent daily efforts. “This victory is a true reflection of her discipline, hard work, and the confidence she displays every day. I am very proud of her,” she said.

With a light-hearted tone, Sindhu also sent a message to her other training partners, joking that fellow player B. Sai Praneeth now faces pressure to step up. She expressed confidence in young players Ansh and Suryaksh as well.

“Now the pressure is on my other training partner B. Sai Praneeth to move forward, ha-ha. Ansh and Suryaksh are players I trust a lot. Watching their journeys and progress is really special,” Sindhu added.

Devika Sihag made history by winning the women’s singles title at the Thailand Masters Super 300 tournament on Sunday.
