China and the U.S. Continue to Leverage Trade Consultation Mechanism: Chinese Commerce Ministry

Beijing, March 20: The Chinese Ministry of Commerce provided updates on the recent trade discussions between China and the United States during a regular press conference held on Thursday.

During this briefing, spokesperson He Yongqian responded to a question by stating that under the guidance of the significant consensus reached between the two countries’ leaders, both sides engaged in open, in-depth, and constructive discussions on trade and economic issues. Key topics included tariff arrangements, promoting bilateral trade and investment, and maintaining existing agreements.

He also mentioned that new agreements were established during the talks, and this process will continue moving forward.

Spokesperson He Yongqian noted that both parties agreed to explore the possibility of establishing a working mechanism to strengthen economic and trade cooperation. They also reached an agreement to effectively utilize the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, enhance dialogue and communication, manage differences in a balanced manner, and expand the scope of practical cooperation.

Furthermore, she stated that both nations are willing to work together to promote the sustainable, stable, and positive development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
