Ahmedabad, February 22: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Saturday that the state government will present its fifth budget in March. He emphasized that this budget will once again prioritize the welfare of the people and focus on the betterment of all sections of society.
Speaking to reporters, CM Mann stated that the government has consistently made decisions in favor of the citizens, leading to significant improvements in the state.
He remarked, “The Punjab government will present its fifth budget in March, continuing our tradition of budgeting for the welfare of all. Our sole aim is to ensure the well-being of the common man, and we are striving to achieve this. The upcoming budget will greatly benefit the people of Punjab.”
Criticizing the central government, CM Mann pointed out that the budget presented by the BJP-led NDA government in recent years has lacked direction and favored the wealthy. He said, “In Gujarat, where there is almost no opposition, the troubles of the common man have increased, and people are suffering. Congress and BJP are playing a friendly match here, resulting in the suppression of the common man’s voice.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted that while the Prime Minister speaks of making the country a global leader, the people in his own state struggle for basic necessities. He accused the central government of suppressing opposition voices in democracy by introducing the concept of a digital public, where manipulated voting data is created and used to win elections in every state. Today, the people of Gujarat see the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as their savior, and there is hope in every Gujarati family for AAP.
Addressing the issue of financial rights of states, CM Mann stated that Punjab’s rightful share in the Rural Development Fund (RDF) has been unjustly withheld by the center in a non-democratic manner, a pattern observed in all non-BJP ruled states.
He concluded, “In democracy, the government is for the people, by the people, and of the people. However, suppressing opposition voices has become a trend. Just as a bouquet is praised for its diverse flowers, democracy flourishes when every voice is heard.”
