Punjab Police Returns 300 Stolen Mobile Phones Worth ₹1.5 Crore to Owners

Amritsar, March 13: The rural police in Amritsar, Punjab, has achieved significant success in recovering stolen mobile phones. On Friday, a special ceremony led by SSP Suhail Meer Khan saw the return of approximately 300 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners. The total value of these phones is estimated to be around ₹1.5 crore.

SSP Suhail Meer Khan stated, “Today, nearly 300 mobile phones have been handed back to their original owners. The value of these phones ranged from ₹15,000 to ₹2 lakh.”

This marks the second mobile phone distribution event, with a similar program held in January where around 300 phones were also returned. This time, the phones were traced and returned to their owners with the help of technology and collaboration from various police station teams.

He noted that phones often end up in other districts or states, making recovery challenging. However, through coordinated efforts and hard work, all phones were successfully recovered.

SSP Khan emphasized that many people believe lost mobile phones cannot be retrieved. “Today’s event proves that if a complaint is filed correctly, phones can be returned,” he added. He also highlighted that mobile phones often contain essential personal and professional data, and many individuals rely on them for their businesses. Therefore, the police take such complaints seriously.

The police urged the public to report immediately if their mobile phone is lost or stolen. SSP Khan remarked, “If your mobile phone goes missing, contact the police right away. Tracing it is our responsibility. Under the Punjab Police’s community policing initiative, we are committed to providing better services, and such campaigns will continue in the future.”

Among those receiving their phones was Amanpreet Kaur from Jalandhar, who reported her phone lost about 15 days ago. She praised the Amritsar rural police for their efforts, stating that the quick return of her phone, which contained crucial data, brought her significant relief.
