Ayodhya, September 1: The appointment of the first CEO for the Ram Temple Trust has sparked significant activity in Ayodhya. An important meeting of the trust is scheduled for Wednesday, where it is expected that the selection committee will finalize one of three candidates for the CEO position.
As the selection process for the CEO begins, discontent has emerged among the saint community. Many saints believe that the management of such a sacred site should be entrusted to a qualified saint rather than being handled under a corporate framework. In response to this unrest, Dinesh Ji, a central advisor of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), visited Ayodhya to meet with the saints. This visit is perceived as an effort at damage control.
Arya Saint Varun Das Maharaj shared insights about the meeting, stating, “The discussions focused on the development of Ayodhya’s monasteries and maintaining the sanctity and dignity of the Shastri tradition. There were talks among the Sangh, VHP, and the saints.”
Meanwhile, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj of Saket Bhawan emphasized that the meeting was centered on the younger saints, who represent the future of the country. Additionally, discussions included how to ensure uninterrupted education in the Vedas, Vedangas, and Shastras. The conversation also touched on how to preserve and promote these traditions through a dedicated university for the study and teaching of the Vedas and Vedangas.
He highlighted the importance of establishing a Veda-Vedanga University in Ayodhya and promoting Sanatan culture.
Arya Saint Varun Das Maharaj expressed concerns regarding the qualifications set by the Ram Temple Trust for the CEO position. He stated, “The CEO system is not suitable for Ayodhya. It does not align with the traditional management structure here, which has historically been managed through five roles: Mahant, Officer, Priest, Kothari, and Bhandari.” Currently, all eyes are on who will be appointed as the first CEO of the Ram Temple.
