Punjab Minister Alleges Corruption in Chief Ministers Office Amid ED Inquiry

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has raised serious allegations of corruption within the office of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. His comments come in response to the Punjab-Haryana High Court‘s directive for a CBI investigation into corruption claims involving Rajbir Singh Ghuman, an officer on special duty for the Chief Minister.

Sirsa described the Chief Minister’s office as a significant hub of corruption. He asserted that certain brokers are operating from outside, allegedly facilitating transfers and postings by bribing officials through the Chief Minister’s OSD. When evidence relating to this matter was presented to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the agency requested the Punjab Police to file a First Information Report (FIR). However, the police reportedly attempted to stall the process, citing various reasons. Sirsa noted that the Punjab Police operates under the Chief Minister, making it difficult for them to take action against individuals linked to the office.

As the case reached the High Court, it acknowledged the presence of strong initial evidence, deeming the situation serious. The court indicated that involving a third party in transfer and posting matters is a significant allegation that warrants investigation. It has mandated a report within two months, after which further actions will be determined.

Sirsa expressed hope for an impartial CBI investigation that would reveal the truth. He also mentioned former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Jain, suggesting their involvement could emerge during the inquiry.

In a separate discussion regarding pollution in Delhi, Sirsa acknowledged the ongoing challenge. He noted that this year has shown clearer conditions compared to the last 12 years. The government has implemented several innovative measures to combat pollution and has worked on both short-term and long-term strategies. He is optimistic that pollution levels in Delhi will improve compared to previous years.
