Bihar Police Intensifies Campaign Against Drug Abuse, Seizes Over ₹52 Crore Worth of Narcotics in Two Years

Motihari, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : In a concerted effort to combat drug abuse, the Motihari police in Bihar’s East Champaran district have ramped up their operations over the past two years. According to police data, 531 drug-related cases have been registered, resulting in the arrest of 669 individuals.

The total value of the narcotics seized during this period is estimated at approximately ₹52.66 crore. Furthermore, 100 of the accused have already been convicted.

The police report highlights the recovery of 8,967.024 kilograms of marijuana, along with 117.7094 kilograms of hashish, 52.516 kilograms of opium, 22.379 kilograms of smack, and 2.6835 kilograms of brown sugar. Additionally, 760 grams of hash and 400.3 grams of heroin were also confiscated.

Motihari police are actively targeting drug trafficking networks, which pose a significant challenge due to the district’s border location. Authorities have identified and are taking legal action against these networks.

Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat emphasized that the crackdown on narcotics will continue unabated. He assured the public that those involved in the drug trade will face strict consequences, and efforts are being made to dismantle the entire trafficking network.

He urged community members to stay vigilant against drug-related activities and to report any suspicious behavior to the police. The police aim not only to seize narcotics and arrest offenders but also to ensure thorough investigations that lead to convictions in court. Ongoing monitoring of registered cases is a priority.

To prevent drug trafficking, the police are enhancing surveillance, strengthening information networks, and keeping a close eye on suspected activities in the district. The overarching goal of these efforts is to protect youth from the clutches of addiction and foster a safe, drug-free environment in Motihari.
