Puducherry Elections: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy Claims Return to Power

Mumbai, April 9: During the ongoing voting for the Puducherry Assembly elections, the BJP has expressed confidence in forming the next government. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has claimed that he will return to power.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, over 82 percent voter turnout was recorded, and officials are hopeful that participation this time may exceed previous levels, indicating strong public engagement in the electoral process.

Before casting his vote, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy visited a temple near his residence for blessings. He stated that he is confident his party will secure enough seats to form the government.

BJP’s state president V.P. Ramalingam has also claimed victory for the NDA. Speaking to reporters, Ramalingam remarked, “Today is a great day. All citizens are showing significant interest in voting for their country. Everything is going smoothly. The NDA is set to form the government.”

Ramalingam is contesting from the Raj Bhavan Assembly constituency, where he faces competition from Congress candidate R. Kumaran and DMK candidate Vignesh Kannan, making this contest highly exciting.

Voting began at 7 AM across 1,099 polling stations and will continue until 6 PM. Officials have indicated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a peaceful and smooth voting process. With all major political parties in the fray, a tough competition is expected for control of the Union Territory. Currently, the All India N.R. Congress and BJP coalition government is in power in Puducherry.

To maintain law and order during the elections, a total of 4,836 polling personnel have been deployed, supported by 2,791 police officers and 30 companies of Central Armed Police Forces. Out of the total polling stations, 209 have been declared sensitive, and five extremely sensitive, with strict monitoring in place. Approximately 2,000 student volunteers have been stationed at polling centers to assist senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
