Protests Erupt in Jharkhand Over Cancellation of CGL Exams

Ranchi, August 19: Protests erupted in Jharkhand as employees expressed their outrage over the state government’s decision to cancel 22 recruitment exams conducted by JPSC and JSSC. This decision has impacted the appointments of 2,628 selected candidates. Affected CGL employees gathered outside the Jharkhand Secretariat on Wednesday to voice their concerns.

Chenna Kumari, one of the protesting employees, stated, “The government’s decision has forced us to take to the streets. Losing a job means more than just losing employment; it affects entire families.”

Chandan Kumar added, “What is the fault of those who secured jobs through hard work? This is a failure of the government and the system. We do not take exams based on agency recommendations. We prepare and take exams based on government advertisements and recruitment processes. Just five days ago, the CID claimed there were no issues, and now suddenly the exams are canceled.”

Archana mentioned, “The notification released yesterday refers to the CGL exam and states that the government found some evidence during the CID and JPSC investigation. What exactly are these pieces of evidence? Are individual candidates to blame for this? The court ordered that only those found involved in the irregularities should be removed, not the entire CGL exam.”

Kashish Kumari expressed, “Just yesterday, we were working in the Secretariat, and today we are on the streets. We will seek a stay on the government’s decision from the court. The government should have considered the employees and consulted with us before making such decisions.”

One protester remarked, “Our appointments were based on the High Court‘s decision. Now, this decision is being deemed baseless. How can the judiciary be undermined in this manner, as if this decision was made at a roadside stall? We will either take our appointments or our bodies will remain here.”

Another protester stated, “It took years for Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir to gain wisdom, but how did the Chief Minister suddenly acquire knowledge in that building? What did he actually learn there? We have worked hard for years, faced challenges, and put in our utmost effort. These jobs were not handed to us as charity.”
