
New Delhi, June 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Daman on June 5. During this visit, he will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate development projects worth over ₹21,700 crores in Surat and Daman. He will also address public gatherings at various events.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Hazira in Surat district around 2:30 PM, where he will review ongoing industrial activities and infrastructure projects. Following this, at approximately 4:15 PM, he will inaugurate various development projects in Surat, amounting to around ₹18,800 crores.
In Surat, he will dedicate several significant projects related to roads, energy, and industry to the nation. This includes the inauguration of Package-6 and Package-7 of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which will enhance rapid transportation, logistics, and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the project to develop critical sections of National Highway-56 into a four-lane road. This will improve connectivity to tribal areas and facilitate easier access to the Statue of Unity.
He will also inaugurate a 220-bed ESIC hospital in Surat, equipped with modern medical facilities, a central laboratory, and 24-hour emergency and trauma services. Furthermore, a project to expand the transmission network under the inter-state transmission system in Gujarat will also be inaugurated.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate several other projects by the Gujarat government, including the modernization of the power distribution system in Valsad, the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR), waste disposal and treatment infrastructure in Sarigam GIDC, and essential utility facilities in the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
Afterward, the Prime Minister will arrive in Daman, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Namoo Airport around 6:15 PM and dedicate Namoo Hospital to the nation. Following this, at approximately 7:15 PM, he will inaugurate various development projects in Daman worth around ₹2,970 crores.
The total cost of the projects being inaugurated in Daman is approximately ₹1,340 crores, including the new terminal building at Namoo Airport and Namoo Hospital. The new terminal will strengthen regional air connectivity, while Namoo Hospital will provide medical services to around 1,500 outpatients daily.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for new projects worth around ₹1,630 crores, including an iconic bridge, the Daman Convention Center, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus. These projects are expected to boost tourism, investment, and employment, improving the living standards of the local population.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for four significant projects worth approximately ₹885 crores for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. This includes the development of port facilities on the eastern and western coasts of Kalapeni and Kadmat islands. The construction of these multipurpose jetties will facilitate year-round movement of large passenger and cruise ships.
These projects will enhance passenger and freight services, as well as strengthen services such as fisheries, fuel distribution, ice supply, and boat repairs. The government believes this will improve maritime connectivity for the islands, support the livelihoods of local fishermen, and accelerate tourism and socio-economic development.
