Jaipur, August 30: A power outage at the ION Digital Zone examination center in Sitapura, Jaipur, caused significant disruption during the NEET PG 2026 exam held on Sunday. Candidates faced considerable difficulties as electricity supply was interrupted mid-exam. Frustrated candidates and their families protested outside the examination center, demanding accountability from the administration regarding the power situation. Complaints were also lodged about the impact on the examination.
In response to the escalating situation, the administration decided to conduct a retake for the affected candidates. According to the ADM of the city, the rescheduled exam will take place on September 5 at 3 PM at the same Sitapura center. New re-admit cards will be issued to the affected candidates. The administration is currently gathering information from the center supervisor regarding the incident and will report the matter to the board.
The NEET PG 2026 exam was held nationwide on Sunday, with a total of 272,183 candidates registered. In Jaipur district, 15 examination centers were established. To ensure a peaceful and fair examination process, the administration implemented special security and law enforcement measures around the centers.
Under administrative orders, various restrictions were enforced within a 300-meter radius of the examination centers. This order was effective from 6 AM to 1 PM, during which e-Mitra services, photocopy centers, and cyber cafes were instructed to remain closed. The use of mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, and other electronic gadgets was also prohibited near the exam centers.
Additionally, the operation of coaching institutes and the use of loudspeakers and DJs were banned within the 300-meter zone. Only authorized personnel were allowed entry into the examination centers. The administration maintained close surveillance on suspicious activities and unnecessary gatherings.
Authorities warned against the spread of rumors related to the examination on social media. However, the power disruption at the Sitapura center raised questions about the exam management. The rescheduled exam on September 5 at 3 PM offers hope for relief to the affected candidates.
