Lucknow, May 11: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for energy conservation. He stated that the opposition’s negative politics is evident even on issues of national interest, reflecting both leaders’ frustration and political discontent in their statements.
On Monday, Pathak took to the social media platform X, asserting that both Gandhi and Yadav need to recognize their increasingly negative mindset. He emphasized that even when it comes to national interest, their approach remains pessimistic. The Prime Minister made a humble request to the nation to limit resource usage temporarily for the greater good. However, the political frustration and despair of these leaders became apparent as they began making baseless statements.
Modi has clearly urged citizens to prioritize work from home wherever possible, avoid purchasing gold for a year, and reduce petrol and diesel consumption by using metro services. He also encouraged sending parcels via rail, minimizing car usage, and cutting down on cooking oil. Additionally, he suggested halving the use of chemical fertilizers and shifting towards organic farming, as well as reducing reliance on foreign branded products and minimizing international travel for a year. Pathak called for collective action to save foreign currency spent on oil imports.
He highlighted that even carpooling once a week or adopting electric vehicles can significantly contribute to the nation’s welfare. Using induction cooktops instead of gas stoves and installing solar panels at home can be excellent starting points.
In response, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP on X, stating that the government only remembers the ‘crisis’ after elections. He claimed that the only real crisis for the country is the BJP itself. Yadav questioned how a ‘five trillion dollar economy’ could be achieved with so many restrictions in place. He noted that the dollar is soaring while the Indian rupee is plummeting.
Yadav further remarked that the appeal to refrain from buying gold should be directed at BJP members rather than the public, as the average citizen cannot afford to purchase 1.5 lakh tolas of gold. He accused BJP members of trying to legitimize their ill-gotten gains. He sarcastically suggested that if his statements seem incorrect, one should investigate from ‘Lucknow to Gorakhpur’ or ‘Ahmedabad to Guwahati.’ Yadav concluded by questioning why all these restrictions are only being recognized after the elections.
