Jaipur, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions escalated in Jaipur on September 11 during the second phase of municipal elections. Outside a polling station, a group of protesters called for the withdrawal of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the presence of Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari.
As voting continued for the Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections, Kumari visited several polling centers across the city. However, her presence at a polling station in the Vidyadhar Nagar assembly constituency drew criticism from Congress workers. They accused her of potentially influencing voters by visiting polling sites on election day.
Congress leaders questioned the appropriateness of a senior political figure visiting polling stations while voting was underway. Security personnel intervened to defuse the situation, which was becoming increasingly tense.
Many voters expressed frustration upon discovering that their names were missing from the electoral roll when they arrived at polling stations. Local residents alleged that a significant number of voters were unlisted due to negligence on the part of booth-level officers (BLOs).
Affected voters voiced their anger, questioning how they could exercise their voting rights if their names were not on the list. This issue was raised in front of Deputy Chief Minister Kumari, with citizens demanding accountability from the administration.
Meanwhile, outside the polling center, some individuals intensified the political climate by chanting slogans demanding the repeal of the UCC, further heightening the atmosphere.
These incidents added a new dimension to the already charged political environment surrounding the voting process in Jaipur. Despite these tensions, voting for the municipal elections continued smoothly across the city, with residents exercising their rights in the local body elections.
