New Delhi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in New Delhi has become heated following an incident in Tilak Nagar where Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma slapped an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker. This altercation occurred while the minister was inspecting road construction work in the area.
According to reports, the confrontation escalated when the AAP worker, identified as Sahib Singh, allegedly used offensive language towards Verma. In response, the minister stated that his actions were provoked by the worker’s remarks.
In the aftermath, BJP leaders have made several claims regarding Sahib Singh. Tejinder Bagga, a prominent BJP figure, took to social media to assert that the AAP worker has a criminal background and has been previously arrested by Delhi police. He mentioned that a case against Singh was registered on June 2, 2026, at the Tilak Nagar police station.
Bagga further alleged that Sahib Singh uses a phone number registered in Dubai, questioning his presence in Delhi if he hails from Punjab. He shared images showing Singh alongside AAP leaders, intensifying scrutiny of the worker’s affiliations.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Ajay Sahrawat echoed these sentiments on social media, labeling Singh as a close associate of the AAP leadership rather than an ordinary citizen.
In a conversation following the incident, Sahib Singh criticized the BJP, suggesting that their actions reflect a disconnect with the youth. He claimed that the incident demonstrates how the BJP treats young people and emphasized the ongoing support from Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders.
Sahib Singh accused BJP leaders of being violent, stating, “If they had their way, they would have shot me. They already slapped me, and if there weren’t cameras around, who knows what they would have done.”
The incident continues to fuel political debates in the capital as both parties exchange accusations.
