Political Reactions Emerge After Jamui Incident Involving Minor

Jamui, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The recent incident involving the harassment of a minor girl in Jamui, Bihar, has ignited a political firestorm. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary addressed the situation on Tuesday, emphasizing that criminals have no caste or religion. His remarks received backing from leaders of the NDA coalition, while the Congress party raised concerns about the government’s response.

Rajiv Ranjan, national spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United), supported the Chief Minister’s statement. He pointed out that, statistically, arrests in criminal cases are not influenced by caste or religion. “If you commit a crime, the police will not spare you,” he asserted.

Ranjan also highlighted that Bihar has sent a strong message regarding the Jamui incident, noting that similar incidents have occurred in other states. He mentioned that action is being taken against 120 social media accounts involved in disseminating videos related to the case, including those who filmed, shared, or displayed the content.

In Ranchi, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev echoed support for the Bihar government‘s actions. He described the incident as “shameful and horrifying,” praising the swift response from Bihar police. Shahdev added that the National Commission for Women is looking into the matter, with a team dispatched to the site. The Chief Minister has promised that all accused will face justice through a fast-track court.

Shahdev criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for seeking to politicize the issue by introducing caste considerations. “If your sisters are not safe, will you care about the caste of the perpetrator before the police take action?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt in Delhi challenged the Chief Minister’s remarks. He argued that government actions often follow media pressure. “Encounters happen after rapes and murders, but what happens to criminals the rest of the year?” he asked, emphasizing the need for consistent action against crime without political bias.

Dutt called for a sustained crackdown on crime, urging that the country should not be divided along religious lines and that criminals should not receive political protection.
