Opposition Leader Accuses Corruption in Transformer Installation in Ujjain
Umang Singhhar alleges corruption in transformer installations in Ujjain, questioning the efficiency of the RDSS scheme.

Ujjain, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : Umang Singhhar, the leader of the opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, has leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister Mohan Yadav regarding corruption in the installation of electricity transformers in Ujjain, the CM’s home district.
The accusations come as part of the revised distribution sector scheme (RDSS), aimed at strengthening India’s electricity supply infrastructure and improving operational efficiency and financial stability. Singhhar claims that the implementation of this scheme in Ujjain is riddled with irregularities.
In a statement, he pointed out that transformers were not installed in villages where they were urgently needed. Instead, in some areas where there was no demand, two transformers were installed, leading to an alleged expenditure of around 36 crore rupees.
Singhhar expressed concern about the misuse of public funds in the Chief Minister’s district, questioning what this means for the rest of Madhya Pradesh. He urged the government to stop wasting taxpayer money and to clarify who is protecting this alleged corruption.
Madhya Pradesh is known for its advancements in electricity supply, with claims of improved services in both urban and rural areas. The state government has even stated that electricity from Madhya Pradesh powers the Delhi Metro.
In a bid to address rising electricity demands, the state government has recently decided to procure 2,800 megawatts of thermal power, which is expected to significantly aid in meeting projected demands through 2037.
