Sagar, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : A suspect involved in the toxic liquor scandal in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, was injured in a police encounter on September 11. The individual, identified as Ravi Lakhera, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Banda.
Authorities had been searching for Lakhera, who is also a contractor for a liquor shop in Chhatarpur district. Police received information about his presence in the forests of Baraytha and attempted to apprehend him. However, Lakhera reportedly opened fire on the officers. In response, police returned fire, hitting him in the leg. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Banda Hospital for medical care.
The toxic liquor incident in Sagar has resulted in the deaths of over 15 individuals, prompting the government to take stringent action against those responsible. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the affected families and instructed the district administration to enforce strict measures. The crackdown on suspects continues, with Lakhera being the latest to be apprehended.
Following the Chief Minister’s orders, authorities demolished five illegal constructions linked to three other suspects on Thursday, with plans for further actions in the pipeline. Reports suggest that the supply of liquor in Sagar and other parts of the state is connected to interstate gangs, and there are indications that Lakhera has ties to Uttar Pradesh.
