Amritsar, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Ankit Bidlan, the newly elected president of the Punjab University Student Union, visited Gurudwara Sahib in Amritsar with his supporters following his victory in the student elections. Accompanying him was BJP leader Akshay Sharma.
During his visit, Bidlan expressed his joy at being in the sacred city. He recalled making a vow to visit the Gurudwara to pay his respects if he won the election.
When asked about the warm welcome he received in Amritsar, Bidlan noted the respect and affection shown to him, particularly by his brother Akshay, which made him feel honored.
Discussing his election victory, Bidlan emphasized the significance of the youth vote. He stated that the young generation, or “Gen Z,” is making decisive choices and has clearly indicated their preferences through their votes. He noted that their commitment to putting the nation first is evident in the electoral results.
Addressing allegations against him post-election, Bidlan dismissed them as baseless and a tactic used by those who cannot accept defeat. He affirmed his commitment to serving students and addressing their needs, stating that he would be their advocate wherever necessary, with the full support of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
BJP leader Akshay Sharma expressed his gratitude towards the student leadership at Punjab University and thanked the young voters for their enthusiastic participation, which led to ABVP’s success in the elections. He highlighted that, similar to their previous victory, this win was achieved by fulfilling promises made to the student body.
Sharma also mentioned the need for educated individuals to step into leadership roles in states like Punjab and Haryana, where a leadership crisis is anticipated. He believes that those who have experience in student politics can significantly contribute to the nation’s progress and uphold the values for which many martyrs sacrificed their lives.
