Siwan, May 4: The police in Siwan district, Bihar, are taking action against land mafia. On Monday, they raided the properties of RJD MLA Osama Shahab, accused of land grabbing from a doctor couple.
However, Osama Shahab was not present during the raids. The operation was led by Nilesh Kumar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Saran region, and Superintendent of Police Puran Kumar Jha. The police team searched Shahab’s ancestral home in Pratappur and his residence in the New Kila area of the town.
After the raids, DIG Nilesh Kumar warned land mafia during a press interaction, stating, “We caution everyone against attempting to seize land from the poor. Siwan police are fully prepared to take strict action. No one will be spared.”
He mentioned that a case had been registered regarding the land grabbing incident involving the doctor couple in the Mahadeva police station area. The police conducted thorough investigations and gathered sufficient evidence to obtain a search warrant from the court. He added that the accused have not yet been located, but further actions will be taken soon.
Kumar emphasized that any illegal activities, including extortion, must cease; otherwise, the police will respond with significant measures. This warning has caused panic among land mafia. During the investigation, several names, including that of MLA Osama Shahab, have emerged.
