
Ranchi, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Late Saturday night, police in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, executed simultaneous raids across several hotels and bars following complaints of alleged immoral activities and violations of regulations.
During the operation near the Kachahari Chowk at the Corinthia Hotel, authorities detained eight men and six women, who are suspected of being linked to a sex racket. Investigations are ongoing, with police questioning hotel management, staff, and those arrested to determine the circumstances surrounding their presence in the hotel and whether any illegal activities were taking place.
This crackdown was initiated under the directive of Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan. Separate teams led by City SP Paras Rana and Rural SP Gaurav Goswami conducted coordinated inspections at various prominent hotels and bars in the city.
According to police reports, the raids aimed to investigate alleged violations by hotel and bar operators. Complaints included operating without valid licenses, keeping establishments open beyond permitted hours, serving hookah, and providing alcohol to minors. The police teams checked licenses, operational documents, and security arrangements at various venues. Some establishments were found to be operating past the designated hours and serving alcohol and hookah, as claimed by the police.
Officials have warned hotel and bar operators to adhere to regulations. They stated that establishments found in violation during the investigation would face appropriate action, and serious irregularities could lead to actions against their licenses.
