Police Encounter in Ghaziabad: Murder Suspect Arrested After Shooting Incident

Ghaziabad, August 20: In a significant police operation, authorities in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, have apprehended a murder suspect following an encounter. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the police response, leading to his arrest. Law enforcement recovered an illegal firearm, ammunition, and a stolen motorcycle from his possession.

According to police reports, a stabbing incident occurred on August 19 in the Vikram Enclave area of Shalimar Garden. The victim, 23-year-old Mushtaq, was attacked with a knife by 20-year-old Sameer, also known as Gattu. Mushtaq later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. Following this tragic event, police intensified their search for the suspect.

Acting on a tip-off, police learned that the wanted individual was in the Shalimar Garden area. A police team initiated a search and checking operation. Officers spotted a suspicious young man on a KTM motorcycle approaching from DLF Road. When the police attempted to stop him, he swerved and sped away into a deserted alley near a telephone exchange.

The police pursued the suspect and attempted to corner him. Reports suggest that, feeling trapped, the suspect fired at the police with the intent to escape. In the ensuing exchange, he was shot in the left leg and subsequently apprehended. He was then transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The arrested individual has been identified as Sameer, a resident of Seemapuri in Delhi. Police confirmed that he is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, murder, and vehicle theft, all registered at the Shalimar Garden police station. Authorities are currently conducting further legal proceedings related to the case.
