Ghazipur, June 7: In a significant operation against criminal gangs active on social media and locally, Ghazipur police have achieved notable success. Over a five-day special campaign named Operation Vajrapaat, authorities identified 49 gangs and 401 of their members.

During this operation, police registered 39 cases and arrested 11 suspects. Preventive actions were also taken against the identified gang members.

Superintendent of Police Dr. Eiraj Raja informed the media that several gangs, including the Katra Gang, Mahakal Gang, 315 Gang, and Farsa Gang, are operating in the district. Members of these gangs often ride in groups on motorcycles, instilling fear among citizens and showcasing their criminal activities through aggressive posts, videos, Facebook Live, and Instagram reels.

Under the guidance of Deputy Inspector General Vaibhav Krishna, detailed information about gang leaders and active members was collected during the campaign from June 1 to June 5. A total of 401 members from 49 gangs were identified, with several facing charges under various sections of the law.

The Superintendent reported that police had already arrested 10 members from seven gangs active on social media. Those arrested include Shubham Yadav from the 5581 Gang, Saurabh from the 999 Gang, Mahendra Yadav, Ankur, and Sonu Rajbhar from the 0777 Gang, Sandeep from the Swan 191773 Gang, Ajay Yadav from the Panchi Gang 1303, Lakshmi Narayan Rai from the Radhe-Radhe Gang, Kamran from the Karoveer Gang, and Mohammad Rashid.

Any attempts to display weapons, make threatening posts, intimidate individuals, or disrupt law and order will be strictly addressed. This campaign is seen as a crucial step towards establishing peace and the rule of law in the district.

Local residents have welcomed the police’s actions. The police stated that all identified gangs and their members are under special surveillance, and further strict actions will be taken as necessary.
