Gwalior, September 3: A tragic incident occurred in Gwalior district’s Dabra on Wednesday night when the roof of a two-story mud house suddenly collapsed during heavy rainfall. Five family members were trapped under the debris at the time of the accident. With the help of local residents and police, all were rescued and taken to Dabra Civil Hospital. Unfortunately, two lives were lost in the incident.
The collapse happened around 11:30 PM in the Jangipura area. Hearing the loud noise of the falling structure, nearby residents rushed to the scene. Upon discovering the family members trapped under the rubble, they immediately began rescue efforts and notified the police. A team from Dabra police arrived promptly and worked alongside locals to clear the debris and rescue the victims.
The injured were then transported to Dabra Civil Hospital. Tragically, two-year-old Aditya succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. His mother, Seema, also passed away during treatment. The deceased included two-year-old Aditya Rajak, also known as Gunu, and his 33-year-old mother, Seema Rajak. Seema’s husband, Jagendra Rajak (38), and their daughters, Vaishali (5) and Ragini (8), sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in Gwalior. Following the incident, a large number of relatives and locals gathered at the hospital.
Family members accused the hospital staff of negligence, claiming that Seema was still breathing when she arrived. Neighbor Veeru Rajak stated that timely and better medical attention could have saved Seema’s life.
In response to the uproar, SDM Navkiran Kaur, SDOP Saurabh Kumar, and Tehsildar Naveen Bhardwaj visited the hospital. The officials met with the family to offer condolences. The SDM assured them that an investigation would be conducted and that action would be taken against those found responsible. They also promised to provide financial assistance to the affected family.
According to reports, Jagendra Rajak works at a shoe factory in Gwalior and commutes daily by train. His wife, Seema, was employed as a cleaner. The economically disadvantaged family had been renting the dilapidated house for about 15 years.
Jagendra’s brother, Raghvendra Rajak, mentioned that both brothers live nearby. At the time of the accident, Jagendra’s two daughters, Nancy and Gauri, were at their uncle’s house, which is why they were unharmed. The sudden collapse of the house has brought a devastating crisis upon the family.
