Buldhana, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Buldhana police have ramped up their efforts to maintain law and order in anticipation of upcoming festivals. In a recent operation, the local crime branch arrested two individuals in the Nandura police jurisdiction for possessing illegal country-made pistols.
Superintendent of Police Nilesh Tambe directed the local crime branch to crack down on the trafficking, buying, and selling of illegal weapons and cartridges in areas bordering Madhya Pradesh, including Sonala, Tamgaon, Jalgaon Jamod, and Nandura.
Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team raided the Mauli Bar near Nimgav Fata in the Nandura area. There, they apprehended the suspects who were reportedly carrying unlicensed firearms.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 29-year-old Ravindra Vitthal Verulkar and 30-year-old Pawan Kautikarav Verulkar, both residents of Yerli in the Nandura tehsil of Buldhana district.
Authorities seized a country-made pistol valued at ₹45,000, a Honda Shine motorcycle worth ₹30,000, and a mobile phone estimated at ₹10,000 from the suspects. The total value of the confiscated items amounts to ₹85,000.
Based on the police complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 3, 7, and 25 of the Arms Act, as well as Sections 123 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The Nandura police are currently conducting further investigations.
This operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Hemant Thakare of the local crime branch, following the orders of Superintendent Nilesh Tambe and guidance from Additional Superintendents Piyush Jagtap and Amol Gaikwad.
