Jammu, April 27: Recent events have unfolded in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu, where police engaged in a confrontation with a notorious criminal. Based on specific intelligence regarding the activities of infamous gangster and drug trafficker Abhinav Singh, also known as Nagy, a special team from the Miran Sahib police station set up a strategic trap in the designated area.
During this operation, Abhinav Singh, wanted in over 13 pending FIRs for charges including attempted murder, rioting, and arms trafficking, attempted to breach the police checkpoint.
When challenged, the accused and his accomplice tried to escape on a motorcycle, even firing at the police team. However, the driver lost control of the vehicle during the chaos.
In a well-coordinated response to protect themselves and the public, the police took action. The two suspects abandoned their motorcycle and attempted to flee into the darkness. The police team pursued them.
Later, during the search, one suspect was found injured in a canal and was taken to the hospital, while the other managed to escape. The police are continuing their search efforts and will provide further updates soon.
Earlier, as part of the ongoing ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign,’ Sopore police arrested two drug traffickers from different locations on Saturday. Substantial quantities of narcotics and banned substances were seized from the suspects.
In the first incident, a suspicious individual was stopped near the public park in Chinkipora, Sopore, during a patrol. Upon searching, police recovered narcotic substances (Spasmoproxyvon capsules) and subsequently arrested the suspect.
The arrested individual was identified as Zubair Ahmed Malla, and the Bomai police filed a case against him under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
In another incident, during a checkpoint at Shiva Crossing, the Bomai police team apprehended a man identified as Shaukat Ahmed Shah. A search revealed a banned substance resembling charas in his possession.
