NDAs Mangal Milan Meeting Concludes with First-Time Participation from NCPI MPs

New Delhi, July 28: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary meeting, dubbed ‘Mangal Milan,’ took place on Tuesday in the Library Building of Parliament, just a day after the introduction of the ‘Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026’ in the Lok Sabha.

For the first time, former rebel leaders from the Trinamool Congress, now MPs from the NCPI, participated in this discussion. NCPI MPs Kakoli Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy, and Sayani Ghosh, who previously belonged to the Trinamool Congress, were present at the meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with key ministers including Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Education Minister Prakash Joshi, and Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh, attended the meeting held at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium.

This discussion among NDA members was convened at a time when the central government is pushing forward the ‘Anti-Cheating Bill’ aimed at preventing examination fraud. Meanwhile, the opposition is preparing to confront the government over alleged ‘police brutality’ against protesting students at Jantar Mantar.

On Monday, amidst strong opposition protests, Minister of State Jitendra Singh introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha. This bill seeks to amend the ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.’

The proposed amendment aims to enhance transparency and integrity in the examination system through stringent legal provisions, ensuring that students’ futures are fully protected. Key features of the bill include severe penalties such as up to 10 years in prison, fines of up to ₹10 crore, asset confiscation of those found guilty, and a provision for delivering judgments within three months.

The ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting is essentially a revamped version of the NDA parliamentary party’s weekly strategy session, aimed at fostering constructive debate and improving coordination among the coalition.

In addition to daily floor management during the parliamentary session and building consensus among different parties, the ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting serves as a platform to enhance coordination with NDA’s allied parties.

This meeting encourages NDA MPs to engage in discussions and assists in distributing speaking responsibilities among key allies such as Shiv Sena, LJP, TDP, JD(U), and other regional parties.
