New Delhi, August 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 84th anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’ by honoring the national leaders and martyrs who participated in it. He stated that the courage of those involved will always serve as an inspiration for every Indian.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi wrote, “We remember all those who took part in the historic ‘Quit India Movement’. Their bravery will always inspire every Indian. The call for ‘Quit India’, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership, infused new energy into our freedom struggle and reflected our people’s unwavering resolve to break free from colonial rule.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute, stating, “On the anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’, I pay heartfelt homage to all the national leaders and martyrs who dedicated their lives to realizing the dream of a free India. Mahatma Gandhi’s call of ‘Do or Die’ became a voice of courage and determination for millions of Indians during that time.”
He added, “Countless known and unknown freedom fighters endured imprisonment, fought valiantly, and sacrificed their lives. Their struggle was not only for political freedom but also for building a nation founded on values such as truth, non-violence, democracy, equality, and patriotism. Remembering these great warriors during this Amrit Kaal of freedom inspires us to continually strengthen our democratic values and constitutional ideals while placing the nation’s interests above all.”
Union Health Minister JP Nadda remarked, “Under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Quit India Movement’ began on this day in August 1942, marking a decisive chapter in our freedom struggle. This ‘August Revolution’ ignited a new consciousness across the country and inspired countless Indians to unite and fight for independence.”
He further noted, “The history of the ‘August Revolution’ is rich with the immortal tales of countless unsung heroes, whose indomitable courage, sacrifice, and dedication will always inspire future generations to serve the nation and uphold patriotism. On the anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’, I pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi and all the great freedom fighters whose sacrifices, courage, and struggles laid the foundation for a free India.”
